President Barack Obama has been bumped off the cover of “Us” magazine by Jessica Simpson who has been at the center of media attention due to her growth spurt.

The weekly magazine had planned on running a photo of the Obama family on the cover of their current issue, but replaced the first family with a story about Jessica Simpson.

During a pre game super bowl interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer Obama laughed off the incident by saying: “Yeah, it’s a little hurtful,” when he was informed about the  decision to replace him with Simpson.

“Who’s in a weight battle, apparently,” Obama said while reading the magazine’s cover.

Jessica Simpson, 28, has  become the center  of a media blitz surrounding her recent weight gain after she  performed in Florida last week wearing high-waisted jeans and a tight black tank top.
