Toronto’s Hobit Size House
Toronto’s Little House
The actual Hobbit-sized home is located in Toronto. Its history is almost as colorful as its dimensions.
Originally the lot was meant to be a driveway for the neighboring home, but after the city wouldn’t allow the curb to be cut, the owner used the space to build the little house in 1912. Its legend has long outgrown its diminutive stature.
The house which was on the real estate market had an asking price of $179,000. The listing agent Cristina Lopes said: “The house is just so unique and cute, its [fame has] spread to all corners of the globe,
Lopes said she got inquiries from New Zeland and Hong Kong even from Ellen DeGeneres considered purchasing it.
“Ellen loved it and said she might buy it, but it went in another direction,” Lopes explained.
After it couldn’t be sold, the home was rented to a young woman, who moved in on April 1. “She loves it, and yes, it is very small and very real!
