Owned and trained by 72-year-old Thomas McCarthy, three-year old ‘General Quarters‘ is the Cinderella Story at this years 2009 Kentucky Derby. Purchased for $20,000.00 by the former high school principal the pair have created a special relationship. Most importantly, McCarthy knows and believes that his colt has what it takes to win the first leg in the quest for the triple crown. MaCarthy and his incredible race horse have spent the last three years on the outside looking in however, as he takes to the track this Saturday in Churchill downs he will no longer be just an ordinary thoroughbred with a desire to run.
