Unanimous Florida Ranked No.1
CAMPUS RIVALRY: Florida now unanimous at No. 1; USC falls to No. 10, BYU slips to 20th!
For the second time in three weeks, occupying the No.3 spot in the USA TODAY coaches’ poll proved to be a bad omen.
Southern California passed its first test in that position a week ago at Ohio State. But the Trojans weren’t as fortunate in their Pac-10 opener. With quarterback Matt Barkley sidelined by a sore shoulder, USC dropped a 16-13 decision at a resurgent Washington, now coached by former Trojans’ assistant Steve Sarkisian. The loss knocked USC to 10th in the new rankings.

Florida and Texas, both 10-point winners in their respective home conference openers, retained the top two spots. The defending BCS champion Gators now have all 59 first-place votes, with Texas being picked second on all but three ballots with two thirds and a fourth. Alabama climbed into the No.3 slot , claiming the remaining three second-place votes with 51 thirds and five fourths. Penn State moved up to No.4 with Mississippi rounding out the top five.
