Amanda Knox Verdict

A year to study abroad, learn a new language and enjoy a bit of European culture has turned into more than two years in an Italian jail for Amanda Knox, a college student from Seattle.

And the foreign study experience could get transformed into a life sentence for Amanda, who’s charged with murdering and sexually assaulting her English roommate, Meredith Kercher.

The jury began on Friday and the verdict is expected today.

Knox’s Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito is also accused of the murder and both have been in an Italian prison since the murder was discovered.  Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence for both.

Foxy Knoxy, “a devil with an angel’s face” as described by the Italian Media aka Amanda Knox, 22, an American college student from Seattle, Washington is now on trial for murder *photos below*. The case is being tried in Perugia, Italy, where the alleged murder of Meredith Kercher took place.  The crime scene in Perugia has  become somewhat of a tourist attraction.  The town is approximately 115 miles from Rome.

On November 1, 2007, Knox and her former boyfriend, 24 year-old boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito *photos below*, were charged with the murder of one of Knox’s roommates British exchange student Meredith Kercher. Both Knox and Sollecito have plead not guilty to the charges.

According to sources: Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini alleges that Kercher, 21, was killed because she refused to participate in a drug-fueled sex game played by Knox, Sollecito, and a third man, Ivory Coast native Rudy Hermann Guede. In court papers, prosecutors stated that Sollecito held Kercher by her wrists while Knox poked at her with a knife and Guede sexually assaulted her.  Read full story here
