Markas was found dead at his home in Palmdale on Monday. However the cause of his death is not yet known but Markas had a surgery for a blood clot on his brain in the year 2008.

Markas was with the Los Angeles from 1994 to 1997. He did broadcasts for the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Clippers, University of Southern California men’s basketball and also Pacific Coast League baseball. In late-2008, Markas underwent surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain, which sidelined him for about six weeks. Steve Physioc, his Angels partner, filled in for Rory on several games. On the morning of January 5, 2010, KTTV-Fox L.A. and radio stations KNX and KLAA announced that Markas passed away. No cause of death was immediately announced. Angels VP of Public Relations Tim Mead told KLAA radio that Markas had died at home around midnight with paramedics in attendance.
