Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, turned 30 on Jan. 1st and, according to reports, got one heck of a birthday present: $300 million, to be exact.

Furman Bisher, a retired sportswriter who used to pen a column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, posted a letter on his blog that if trueprovides in-depth background on the events that led to Tiger Woods’ post-Thanksgiving car crash. Of course, it is likely not true. The letter, which Bisher says is from “a trustworthy journalist I have known for years,” is written by someone who claims to have sources in Woods’ neighborhood and at his talent agency, IMG.  Read full story here

The United Kingdom’s Daily Mail reported Monday that Nordegren is boasting about her $300-million “Christmas present” from her straying spouse, but that her determination to get a divorce is steadfast. She has allegedly retained a private investigator to examine Woods’s accounts, with a view to claiming half of the money he earned while they were together over the last five years.  Read full story here

Interesting:  That highly reputable Sunday newspaper publication, ‘The News of the World’ has James Desborough reporting that, Elin is due to a huge settlement ($300 million) and she has bragged about this, that’s so Elin – not!

Elin Nordegren spent the holidays skiing in the French Alps with her twin sister Josefine. They were joined by Josefine’s husband Daniel Lonnborg at a rented chalet in Les Houches.

Nordegren, her sister and Lonnborg stepped out several times for dinner and was spotted skiing in Chamonix Valley.

“Elin was happy, smiling, and seemed to have finally let her hair down. This trip must have done wonders for her,” a witness says.

Questions for new PGA season all start with Tiger!

The first day of the new PGA Tour  season brought a Tiger Woods sighting.

“Right there, through those trees,” a caddie said jokingly, pointing into the distance toward the Pacific Ocean , where a white yacht was cruising along the Maui coastline below Kapalua. “He’s on his boat.”

For a guy who hasn’t been seen in more than six weeks, Woods seems to be everywhere. And while he isn’t at the season-opening SBS Championship, his presence looms larger than ever.

Woods hasn’t played this tournament since 2005, so his absence is not unusual. Last season began with a similar question — when would he return — only that was from knee surgery, and it was a matter of time. He is gone from golf now because of a shocking sex scandal that led him to take an “indefinite break” while he tries to save his marriage.  Read more here
