By now you’ve heard the story: despite a training camp tradition of rookies carrying the vets’ pads after practice, Dez Bryant refused to do it for Roy Williams.

The NCAA was responding to criticisms from Bryant that he may have been unprepared to handle the inquiries and criticism that the one-year penalty may have been excessive.

Bryant hasn’t officially announced he’s going to the NFL and is currently appealing to the Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee for reinstatement, but if you’re him, why even bother?

Bryant, who had 19 touchdowns and 1,480 receiving yards last season, is expected to be a top-10 pick in the NFL draft.

“There have been some reported misrepresentations of the NCAA interview process by Mr. Bryant and the media,” spokesperson Stacey Osburn wrote. “According to established NCAA procedures, student-athletes and coaches are reminded verbally and in the documentation of their obligation to be truthful.
