Country singing legend Willie Nelson, 77, was arrested on Friday (Nov. 26, 2010) for possession of marijuana.

Nelson was traveling from California  to his home state of  Texas when his tour bus was pulled over by the border patrol in Sierra Blanca, Texas.

It was reported that an officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and ordered a search to be done. During an extensive search of the tour bus, officers found six ounces  pot.

Nelson told authorities that it was his.  Three others were also taken into custody and booked at the Hudspeth County Jail.

Nelson’s bond was set at $2,500.  He was released on the same day.

Steve Babik, the coordinator of the University of Florida’s radio network, faces federal charges of distribution and possession of child pornography that were filed on Tuesday.

He has been fired by the school.

Willie Nelson canceled a North Carolina concert on Thursday (Jan. 28), reportedly due to pain in his hand which prevented him from playing guitar. He also canceled a show on Jan. 30, slated to take place in Asheville, N.C.
