Wilson Holloway Loses Battle With Cancer
Wilson Holloway 22, , a University of Tulsa football player and former high-school teammate of NBA player for the Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin, died from Hodgkin’s lymphoma Wednesday, ESPNreports. Holloway has been battling the disease since 2008.
Blake Griffin was coming off a solid win, heading into his first All-Star Weekend, but all he could do was sob. After Wednesday night’s Clippers win over the Timberwolves in Minneapolis, Griffin had his head in his hands in the locker room after receiving a phone call that a friend from home had died.
Holloway, who received a football scholarship from Tulsa, battled cancer for the past three years.
A memorial candlelight service for Wilson Holloway will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Oklahoma Christian School.
Holloway’s funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond.
