Phillip Phillips, 2012 winner of “American Idol, ” has had some bad luck lately…last week he underwent a six-hour surgery to have several large kidney stones removed and this week thieves broke into his family owned pawn shop located in Albany, Georgia.
The burglary occurred sometime after 9:00 p.m. on Monday and before 8:00 a.m. today.
According to sources Thieves used a stolen Water, Gas and Light backhoe to smash their way through the back wall of the pawn shop.
The back hoe was stolen from a nearby construction site.
The thieves took around $4000.00 in merchandise which included televisions, coins, jewelry and guns. They also took the entire cash register which only had $110.00 dollars in it.
An inventory of all merchandise is being conducted and an investigation is underway.
Phillips seven-hour operation was done on June 6. He is reportedly checked out of a Los Angeles hospital on Sunday and resting following the intense surgical procedure to deal with kidney stones .
TMZ.com reports that Phillips will recuperate at a Malibu, Calif., mansion owned by an exec on “Idol” before embarking on the show’s summer concert tour, which kicks off July 6 in Detroit.
