Patricia Crawley, the woman who left her newborn baby in a cardboard box just before Christmas 2011 made her first court appearance today. 
Crawley was found guilty of child endangerment. She was acquitted of attempted murder charges. The troubled “crack addict” was also convicted of reckless endangerment and simple assault and acquitted of aggravated assault.
Crawley, 33, was reportedly on a “crack binge” when she abandoned the newborn in a box wrapped in a sweater, robe, towel, and blanket. She and left the box n the trash outside of Rainbow Day Care Center at 26th and Huntingdon Streets in North Philadelphia.
The infant…who was given the “Noel” was found, by Robert Taylor and Homer Keller were cleaning the sidewalk at a neighboring church. According to church custodians…they heard a noise that sound like a cat. It was then that walked over and discovered the baby in a cardboard box.
Keller told authorities that he ” heard a little sound like a baby or a kitten or something. I thought it was a kitten, and I pulled the cover back off of it, and it was a baby.”
Crawley who was arrested in February remains in custody and will return to court on December 2012 for sentencing.
