Tyrann Mathieu aka “Honey Badger” the disgraced former LSU cornerback and 2011 Heisman Trophy contender …was arrested earlier today in Baton Rouge on drug-related charges.
Mattieu, who was dismissed from LSU Tigers football program for the 2012 season after reportedly failing multiple drug tests… and three other former LSU football players who were identified as…Jordan Jefferson (starting QB for LSU last season), Derrick Bryant and Karnell Hatcher were all involved in the bust.
Police were called to the apartment complex around 3:30 this afternoon following an alleged confrontation between Jefferson and a campus security guard. According to sources Jefferson, attempted to push his way through a security gate and then Jefferson exchanged words with a maintenance worker. The police were called.
When officers arrived at the apartment Mathieu answered the door. It was then that authorities smelt weed. They searched the apartment and found a marijuana grinder, a set of digital scales and 10 bags of high grade marijuana…. 7 of which were found inside Bryant’s booksack.
They were all arrested and taken into custody where they remain at this time.
According to Baton Rouge authorities…
- Honey Badger and Jefferson were charged with simple possession of marijuana.
Jefferson, 22, of St. Rose, La. was a multiple-year starter at quarterback for LSU. He led the Tigers to the SEC championship and a spot in the BCS National Championship Game as a senior.
- Hatcher, 22, was charged with 2nd Offense Simple Possession of Marijuana.
- Bryant, 22, was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
There was some optimism about his future at LSU and the possibility that he would be reinstated as a member of the football team.
After this latest incident…any hope has faded for the Honey Badger’s future of returning as a member of the 2013 LSU football team…
Mattieu is eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft.
