It was a bad weekend for Miami Dolphins safety Jonathan Amaya who was unable to record a single tackle during Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks and to make matters worse…he spent $100.00 for a taxi ride which lands him in jail for assault.
Jonathon Amaya….the 6’2, 185lb safety for the Miami Dolphins….was arrested for “battery” this morning after he allegedly choked a cab driver.
According to sources…Amaya paid the taxi driver $100.00 to take him to a location which was outside his normal driving area. During the ride Amaya became aggressive. The driver notified authorities and even offered to return the cab fare it he would get out of the car…he refused…and opted for a ride to a local jail via police cruiser.
When authorities arrived at the scene…Amaya was still inside the car. The driver had no visible signs of injury and he explained to authorities …”This man is trying to kill me.”

Amaya, played college football at Nevada. He was signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He was part of the trade deal sending Amaya to the New Orleans Saints and Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins.

Miami Dolphins
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dolphins on April 30, 2010, but was cut during training camp and added to the practice squad. On October 30, he was signed to the active roster. He made 10 appearances, recording 15 tackles on special teams.
New Orleans Saints
On July 28, 2011, he was traded to the New Orleans Saints in the Reggie Bush trade He appeared in all 16 games for the Saints, recording 14 tackles and a forced fumble.
