Gia Allemand Dies Following Suicide Attempt

Former Bachelor star Gia Allemand, 29,  has died after an attempted suicide which left her with critical loss of brain and organ function.

Gia was found by her NBA star boyfriend Ryan Anderson unconscious and hanging in her home on Monday.  The New Orleans Pelicans forward contacted 911.

She was transported to the hospital where she was placed on life support and listed in critical condition.

On Tuesday, her condition remained critical with no improvement.  On Wednesday her family made the decision to take her off life support.

Gia Allemand BachelorA spokesperson for the family said that she “passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”

Gia, was featured in  Maxim is an international men’s magazine  and was a contestant on season 14, 2010 ABC reality show The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka.  She was elimination from the final three.  She also appeared as a cast member in “On the Wings of Love and Bachelor Pad.”
