Andy Cohen Defends Kelly Rippa

Andy Cohen thinks Michael Strahan screwed up!

Andy Cohen, the host of the Bravo nightly series Watch What Happens: Live, thinks Michael Strahan just made the biggest mistake of his career by choosing ‘GMA’ over “Live! with Kelly and Michael.

Andy took a stand in support of his BFF, Kelly Ripa, during his SiriusXM ‘Radio show “Radio Andy” Monday morning … Cohen called out Strahan for taking the ‘GMA’ gig. The way Andy sees it, it’s a numbers game and Strahan’s taking a big risk leaving his established spot on ‘Live.’

He said, “What happens if the [‘GMA’] ratings don’t go up? What is going to happen to this sweet man? By then she will have a new co-host.”

Andy’s already said he doesn’t have time to take the job with Kelly — if it were offered to him — but he does have another good friend in mind for the job.

About “Live With Kelly and Michael:

After spending a decade sitting next to talk show legend Regis Philbin on the “Live” set, co-host Kelly Ripa now sits next to a football legend, Michael Strahan, following a nearly yearlong search for her new co-host after Philbin’s 2011 retirement from the daily gabfest. Although the hosts have changed over the course of the long-running morning TV franchise’s history, viewers won’t notice much of a change in the show’s format. The hosts still discuss the latest happenings in the news and their personal lives during the show’s opening “host chat” segment before welcoming guests from the entertainment world, as well as newsmakers, and hosting musical performances from some of today’s hottest artists and bands.
