The man, identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Tuan-Anh Tran of Milpitas, California, reportedly climbed a 5-foot fence as well as a 8-foot fence before making onto the grounds. He was able to prowl undetected for nearly 20 minutes and got close enough to jiggle a doorknob in an attempt to get inside.

Upon his arrest by the secret service, he was in possession of two cans of maze,  a U.S. passport, an Apple laptop computer, a book written by Trump and a letter he had written to the president, the complaint said.

In the letter found on Tran, he mentioned “Russian hackers” and said he had information of relevance, according to the criminal complaint. He alleged that he had been followed, that his phone and email communications had been read by third parties, and that he has been called schizophrenic.

The incident has left a cloud of humiliation and embarrassment over those in charge of White House security.

Secret Service agents are angry over the security breach, and believe they have been hindered by insufficient technology to detect intruders.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office said  Tran was charged with entering or remaining on restricted grounds while using or carrying a dangerous weapon.

Upon his release Monday, he was ordered to stick close to his Northern California home until his April court date in Washington, D.C.

President Trump was in the building at the time of the intrusion.
