President Trump to Pardon One Very Lucky Turkey

Turkey Pardon Ceremony

President Trump has tweeted boldly about his power to pardon after negotiating with China to release 4 UCLA thug basketball players who were accused of stealing a pair of sunglasses at a Louis Vuitton boutique last week.

Now, he will use hisĀ  powers to pardon when he saves the fate of one lucky turkey just in time for the holidays.

The ceremonial pardon of a turkey is traditional will take place on Tuesday in the White House Rose Garden.

Following the ceremony, the lucky birds will be taken to Virginia Tech, home of the Hokies, where they will live a worry free life, safe from feather plucking and no chance of becoming a butter ball turkey!

National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation is a ceremony that takes place at the White House every year shortly before Thanksgiving. The President of the United States is presented with a live domestic turkey by the National Turkey Federation, usually of the Broad Breasted White variety. The early years also included a joint presentation with the Poultry and Egg National Board. The ceremony dates back to the 1940s, with presidents occasionally sparing the bird presented to them; since 1989, during George H. W. Bush’s first Thanksgiving as president, it has been an annual tradition for the president to “pardon” the turkey. The ceremony has been cited as an example of carnism by animal activists and vegans.
