Bill Daily, the actor who starred as astronaut Major Roger Healey in the hit series “I Dream of Jeannie” and a commercial airline navigator Howard Borden on The Bob Newhart Show has died.

Daily reportedly died on September 4 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was 91.

He met actor/musician Dick Contino there and the two would travel to various units giving shows. Contino would sing and play the accordion and Daily, who was an accomplished musician, would play the stand-up bass.
  • He knew Bob Newhart in Chicago before they were first well-known and 15 years before he joined the cast of The Bob Newhart Show (1972).
  • He had been writing for comedian Steve Allen when he and his wife adopted a child. His first role on television was on the series Bewitched (1964) where he picked a boy staying with the Stephenses whom they were adopting.
  • Also known for the role of Howard Borden the divorced neighbor of doctor Bob Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show (1972).
