Reporter Carley McCord on Plane that Crashed in Route to Peach Bowl

Sports reporter Carley McCord has been identified as was one of five people killed in a plane crash in near Lafayette Regional Airport in Louisiana on Saturday.

Carley McCord  was one of six passengers en route to the Peach Bowl to watch Louisiana State University play Oklahoma.

Carley McCord was a member of the WDSU Sports team.

McCord, 30, whose father-in-law is LSU’s offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, was a native of Baton Rouge, La.

Also killed in the crash were Ian Biggs, 51, the plane’s pilot; and passengers Robert Crisp II, 59, vice president of operations at Global Data Systems; Gretchen D. Vincent, 51, wife of Global Data Systems’ president Chris Vincent; and Michael “Walker” Vincent, 15, son of Gretchen Vincent.

A sixth passenger, Stephen Berzas, 37, was hospitalized in critical condition, according to The Advocate of Baton Rouge.

LSU Athletic Director, Scott Woodard issued a statement saying “We are all deeply saddened by the tragic events in Lafayette today,” said “The thoughts and prayers of the entire LSU family are with all the loved ones of those lost. Coach Steve Ensminger and his family ask for privacy as they mourn the loss of his daughter-in-law Carley McCord. Carley’s endless joy and passion for life were infectious. She will be missed.”
