Man Shot by Secret Service Officer Identified as Myron Berryman

A Forestville, Maryland man, identified as Myron Berryman remains hospitalized after a he was shot by a secret service officer.

Myron Berryman, who was shot by a Secret Service officer near the White House on Monday evening shouted, “I’m going to kill you. I’m going to shoot you,” according to an internal D.C. police report described to The Washington Post by two law enforcement officials.

According to a spokesperson just before 6 p.m. ‘the Secret Service said that Myron Berryman approached an officer posted near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, about one block from the northwest gate to the White House grounds.’ he told the officer he had a weapon. He then moved aggressively toward the officer and appeared ready to fire before the officer shot him once.

Those people identified the injured man as Myron Berryman, 51. Police said he remains hospitalized Tuesday in critical but stable condition.

D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said the man is being charged with assault on a police officer.
