Taylor Mays, Eric Berry NFL Combine
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010Rumors heard ’round the NFL Combine
Among whispers heard at the Combine, Taylor Mays may need to give up on playing free safety.
The real McCoy is No. 1?
If the draft was today, the Rams would select Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy because he is the player that head coach Steve Spagnuolo likes better. Fortunately for Rams fans who want a quarterback after passing on Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez the past two Aprils, the team has seven weeks to change Spags’ mind. McCoy’s OU teammate, quarterback Sam Bradford, plans to throw and show off his surgically repaired right shoulder on March 25. A year ago, Bradford was the consensus top quarterback, ahead of Matthew Stafford, but he opted to return to play college football.
The Kansas City Chiefs have perceived needs at both safety positions. Unrestricted free agent Mike Brown is aging and didn’t show much burst last season. Jon McGraw is probably better suited as a backup.
So it’s no surprise that there have been plenty of reports linking the Chiefs to the top safeties in the 2010 NFL Draft. A few helped themselves and one potentially hurt himself in the 40 yard dash.
Tennessee’s Eric Berry had the most to lose this morning. A slow 40 time could’ve put him below Florida’s CB Joe Haden as the Combine’s best defensive back but he did very well for himself at 4.46 and 4.40 unofficial times. That’s faster than the times posted for Haden. Read full story here

Dwight Freeney is the star defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts who is largely responsible for the much improved defense. Dwight Freeney the man in the number 93 jersey is well known for making his whole defensive line better, because of the doubles he gets from offensive linemen, it opens up his teammates. Its not often you see fans wearing a defensive players jersey, but the Dwight Freeney jersey is the exception.
Dwight Freeney was drafted by the Colts out of Syracuse University with the 11th pick in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He set an NFL rookie record with 9 forced fumbles, and was runner up for defensive rookie of the year. Freeney is the only player in Colts history with three consecutive double-digit sack seasons.

Tiffany Horne
Friday, January 22nd, 2010Shawne Merriman said he’s excited about becoming a father for the first time. His close friend, Tiffany Horne, is pregnant.
The two have known each other for almost six years and have a good relationship, he said.
Which is why the Chargers linebacker said he was “shocked” to learn yesterday that a paternity case was filed against him in Horne’s name this week in San Diego Superior Court.
“It’s not a paternity suit,” said Horne’s attorney, David Schulman, “It’s between two people who have an agreement.”
Merriman’s attorney, Jim Scott, called it a “standard paternity case.”
“She’s a great friend of mine and has been for almost six years now,” Merriman said. “There’s no denying of any kind of paternity. For this to be even taking place is a shock.”
