In a scene horribly reminiscent of Patrice Bergeron’s life-threatening concussion two seasons ago, Bruins [team stats] star center Marc Savard was taken from the Mellon Arena ice on a stretcher late in the Penguins’ 2-1 victory this afternoon.
The 2003 NBA Draft was held on June 26, 2003 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from high schools and non-North American leagues.
The draft was broadcast on ESPN at 7:30 pm (EDT). The NBA announced that 42 college and high school players and a record 31 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the 2003 NBA Draft.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a 22.50 percent probability of obtaining the first selection, won the NBA Draft Lottery on May 22, and Cleveland chairman Gordon Gund said afterward his team would select LeBron James.

The unbelievable talent in the 2003 NBA Draft class was evident tonight in Dallas at the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. The 2003 Draft started with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony at 1 and 2, and then featured Dwayne Wade at 5. It also had Chris Bosh and Chris Kaman at 4 and 6 respectively. Read full story here

CBS.com -Todd Leary: Former Indiana Basketball Player Charged With Multiple Felonies for Real Estate Fraud
Todd Leary, an Indiana broadcaster and former Hoosiers player, has been arrested in connection with an alleged multimillion-dollar real estate fraud scheme.
Records show that the 39-year-old Leary was being held Friday in the Monroe County Jail in Bloomington.
The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reports that Leary faces 17 felony charges, including conspiracy to misappropriate title insurance escrow funds.
The newspaper reports court documents say Leary once worked for a title insurance broker who has pleaded guilty to several charges in a $2.7 million scheme. Read more here

ESPN.com: The New Orleans Hornets have responded to their 3-6 start by making the first coaching change of the young NBA season, firing Byron Scott on Thursday.
The Hornets made the decision to dismiss Scott following New Orleans’ 124-104 loss in Phoenix on Wednesday night and formally announced the move later Thursday.
