Smithsonian Museum Wants Aretha Franklin’s Hat
Saturday, January 31st, 2009Sources reported that the Smithsonian Museum wants Aretha Franklin’s Inauguration Day Hat. Franklin performed “America the Beautiful” during the ceremony and now the “Queen of Souls” big-bowed hat she sported is hot property. The hats designer Luke Song is thrilled with the demand for the hat. However, Franklin is not as thrilled about giving it up.
According to New York Magazine: Franklin is considering it and said: ” It would be hard to part with my chapeau since it was such a crowning moment in history. I would like to smile every time I look back at it and remember what a great moment it was in American and African-American history. Ten cheers for President Obama.”
