With no official events on the schedule, a spokesman says he expects President Barack Obama to play a lot of Golf on the 10-day vacation that began today. Obama, his wife, their daughters and their dog left for Camp David this afternoon.

They’re planning to go to the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday. They’ll be staying at a private 28-acre estate there. Read more here

The 28-acre Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark, where the first family will stay during the last week of August. The farm includes the main house, guest house, boat house, basketball court and putting green. The Obamas paid to rent the estate (at an estimated price of $35,000-$50,000) with their own money. President Obama hails it as ‘an initial return’ to taxpayers for TARP

The Associated Press has reported that ten of the nation’s largest banks were given the green light Tuesday to repay $68 billion in government bailout money, freeing them from restrictions on executive compensation that they say are making it hard to keep their top-performing executives.

The Treasury Department said the banks had been approved to repay the money they received from the Troubled Asset Relief Program created by Congress in October at the height of the financial crisis.

Sanjay Gupta, 40,  of CNN  may soon be giving up his position as the networks Chief Medical correspondent.  According to sources, he has been mentioned as Obama’s choice as the next surgeon general.

Gupta is a neurosurgeon who served as a White House fellow adviser to Hilary Clinton from 1997-1998.  In 2003 he was embedded with the Navy’s medical unit in Iraq and Kuwait where he performed brain surgery five times.

He is married two attorney Rebecca Olson and they have two daughters Sage Ayla, 3, and Skye, 2. and is the author of the book “Chasing Life” which was a best seller.
