NFL on FOX: What’s next for Dallas?
Will the Cowboys fire Wade Phillips? The FOX NFL Sunday crew discusses the future in Dallas.
The No. 2-ranked Minnesota Vikings (12-4) continue to lead the No. 3-seeded Dallas Cowboys (12-5) 17-3 after three quarters of Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round playoff game at Minnesota.
With 4 minutes, 12 seconds left in the first period, Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre hit receiver Sidney Rice — who made a tough grab with a defender tightly covering him — down the right sideline for a 47-yard touchdown.
In the second quarter, Suisham nailed a 33-yarder to make it a 7-3 contest. However, the Vikings answered right back when the Favre connected again with Rice on a 16-yard pass play.
All the Vikings and their fans heard all week, whether it was from the national media or message board trolls or wherever else, was that the Dallas Cowboyswere the “hottest team in the NFC.”

Correction. . .they WERE the hottest team in the NFC. Until they ran into a significantly better football team. That team being the Minnesota Vikings.
“Vikings quarterback Brett Favre threw two touchdowns in the first half. He hit Sidney Rice on a gorgeous 47-yard throw that Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh literally never saw coming.”
Leading up to the game, Cowboys‘ safety Gerald Sensabaugh . . whoever he is. . .declared that the only way the Cowboys could lose would be to beat themselves. Well, if that was the case, the Cowboys were more self-abusive than a group of emo kids that just spotted a “Going Out of Business” sign at the front of their local Hot Topic right after hearing that Dashboard Confessional was breaking up. PINK party guests were roaming around the Hard Rock pool decked out in their pink pajamas, glow-in-the-dark necklaces and wonderfully wacky outfits to celebrate the festivities.
It didn’t take long for Dylan Favre to rewrite the Mississippi high school football records Friday night against Greene County.
Favre led the Rockachaws to a 42-21 victory, giving St. Stanislaus a key Region 8-4A victory. SSC improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in regional play as Favre completed 40 of 48 passes for 506 yards and six touchdowns.
Secondly, Favre, the Rocks’ senior quarterback and nephew of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, took over the career touchdown passing record on the first three possessions of the first quarter.
Shortly after hearing the news in Minnesota, Brett Favre sent the Sun Herald a text to congratulate his nephew.
“It’s a good feeling,’’ Dylan Favre said. ‘’But like the other records, I was not excited as I thought I would be.
“The good thing is this put us in the driver’s seat for a district championship.’’
With four regular-season games left, Favre has 108 career touchdown passes and 9,419 passing yards.
“The records speak from themselves,” SSC coach Forrest Williams said. “If you ask Dylan, he will tell you they were team records, and they were.’’
Favre immediately went to work after the Rocks found themselves down 7-0 when Mitchell Brown raced 64 yards on the opening play of the game. Read more here
Brett Favre’s first extended playing time as a member of the Vikings proved costly for the quarterback. Literally.
The NFL fined Favre $10,000 on Friday for the crackback block he threw in the third quarter of the Vikings’ preseason victory in Houston.
“On a run play, as his opponent was moving toward the ball carrier, Favre struck him below the waist area,” the NFL said in a statement announcing the fine. Read full story here
Vikings quarterbackBrett Favre said before last night’s game at Houston that he might have a cracked rib, but he hasn’t received an official diagnosis. He told ESPN that taking a deep breath caused him some discomfort. He also doesn’t plan to wear any kind of special padding, saying “the damage is done.’’
His ribs appeared fine during the game in which he was 13 of 18 for 142 yards and one touchdown in the Vikings’ 17-10 victory over the Texans. Read full story here
