Monte Kiffin “Fired up”

ESPN:  Most guys his age are already retired or at least thinking about it. The only thing the 69-year-old Kiffin is thinking about is that next blitz, that next coverage, that next opponent.

Besides, he’s having too much fun to quit.

“I don’t golf. I don’t fish. I don’t play tennis. I don’t bowl. How am I going to retire?” Kiffin says, his voice rising in a machine gun-like tone that fluctuates from a whisper to a hearty chuckle.  Read full story here ESPN.com

Update: TimTebow Injury, Released from Hospital, VIDEO

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

TimTebow released from Kentucky hospital headed back to the swamp!  Current Standings and SEC Rankings

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was out of the hospital and on his way home Sunday, about 12 hours after sustaining a concussion during the team’s 41-7 victory at Kentucky.

ESPN: Tebow was released from the University Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., Sunday morning. He was held for precautionary reasons. Coach Urban Meyer spent the night in the hospital with Tebow.

“Tim is doing fine this morning,” Meyer said. “His CT scans came back and indicated that Tim suffered a concussion. Our medical and athletic training staff will continue to monitor him to determine how much rest and recovery he needs. We will have additional information and updates this week.”

Tebow was expected back in Florida later Sunday.

The top-ranked Gators (4-0) are off next week, then play at LSU on Oct. 10. It might be several days, maybe even longer, before Tebow’s status becomes clearer for what could be the toughest game on the defending national champions’ schedule.  Read full story here

South Florida Upsets Florida State

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Highlights USF Football

The undefeated South Florida Bulls entered Saturday’s competition against Florida State well aware that the Seminoles would be fired up on their home turf.

University of South Florida Football

While the Seminoles sought to prove their worth among the nation’s elite, their opponents were simply trying to justify their football program within their state. With senior quarterback Matt Grothe out with a knee injury, the Bulls looked to redshirt freshman B.J. Daniels for help. Daniels, who is coincidentally a Tallahassee native, was stellar in his debut performance. Rushing for 126 yards and throwing two touchdownpasses, Daniels led his squad to a 17-7 victory at No. 18 Florida State.  Read full story here
