Body Found in Wall Confirmed That of Annie Le

Newsday.com:  The body found hidden in a wall in a Yale University lab building has been confirmed and is in fact the body of  Annie Le, 24-year-old doctoral student in pharmacology who went missing five days before she was to be married on Long Island, authorities said Monday afternoon.

“The manner of death is homicide,” Dr. Wayne Carver, the chief medical examiner in Connecticut , said in a statement. “The cause is being withheld for investigative purposes.”

New Haven police said Monday that Le’s slaying was “not a random act.”

Meanwhile, at least two news agencies were reporting that police have a suspect in Le’s slaying.

Citing unidentified sources, NBC News and ABC News reported the suspect has defensive wounds and failed a lie detector test. NBC reported the suspect is a student, but not necessarily one who attends the Connecticut university.

Professor questioned by police in case of missing Yale student

A New Haven police spokesman Monday emphasized that “there are no suspects and no students involved . . . in this case.”

Spokesman Joe Avery said Monday that because the death did not appear to have been committed at random, there was no need for alarm on campus.

“It wasn’t a random act. It doesn’t appear to be a random act,” Avery said.  Read full story here
