Mark Herzlich Boston College Positve Prognosis

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

BOSTON — Mark Herzlich was coming off an incredible 2008 season, having emerged as one of the nation’s best college linebackers. It seemed all he had to worry about was whether he should turn pro or return to Boston College Eagles.

Herzlich stayed in school. He didn’t know what a great support system he’d just put in place.

Player Bio: Mark Herzlich – BOSTON COLLEGE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

This past spring, Herzlich, projected by many to be an early-round NFL draft pick if he had left school early, was back in Wayne, Pa., when he felt pain in his leg. He went for tests, then a biopsy: It was Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer found in bone or soft tissue.  Read more here

Miami’s Jacory Harris and Team Take on Virginia Tech

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

HIGHLIGHTS:  Miami Hurricanes vs. Virginia Tech

Game time:  3:30

Quarterback Jacory Harris salutes Miami’s fans following a 38-34 win over Florida State. Virginia Tech’s defense hopes not to allow another such celebration today.

BLACKSBURG — Soon after Nekos Brown started watching video footage this week of Miami’s offense, he noticed one thing that separates the Hurricanes’ quarterback, Jacory Harris, from most quarterbacks whose video Brown studies.

Hurricanes in good hands with Harris

‎”Not a lot of quarterbacks are as comfortable as he looks in the pocket,” said Brown, Virginia Tech’s senior defensive end.Therein lies the challenge today for Brown and the Hokies’ defense. They want to rattle Harris, a sophomore, any way they can — preferably by sacking him, though they’ll settle for hurrying him into a bad throw. This is their objective every week, of course, and they have achieved it, for the most part, through three games this season. But it becomes even more important today, because so much of Harris’ success this season results from the time and space his blockers give him.

Even with his arm numb, Jacory Harris emerges as true leader

Harris enters today’s 3:30 p.m. game at Lane Stadium having been sacked just once in two games, during which he has completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 656 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. An even wilder stat: Miami’s opponents, Florida State and Georgia Tech, were credited with zero quarterback hurries.  Read more here
