64…32…6…8…FINAL FOUR!!

The 2015 Men's Final Four will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis April 4 & 6

The magical day has finally arrived. Final 4 Saturday is truly one of, if not the greatest, day in all sports. With a full week of hype, assessments, analysis, interviews, and preparation, we can now sit back and watch one of the best Final 4 pairings of all time. Think about it… look what i found Coach K and Tom Izzo. Coach Cal and Bo Ryan. All four of these men are the epitome of being a college coach. All 4 will be Hall of Famers. And all have done it a different way and took a different path to get there. Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Legendary schools and giants in the world of college sports. Some of you out there hate this scenario – top seeds making it to the end. You were hoping for a Cinderella story and your brackets were filled with early round upsets. Not this year! Others love it! Chalk prevailed (for the most part) for one of the few times even though State wasn’t a top seed.

The Great Escape 2015…March Madness Style!

The greatest 3 weeks in all of sports took it up another notch last night when the Kentucky Wildcats ripped the hearts out of the Notre Dame faithful and finally prevailed, 68-66. We affectionately call this March Madness and what a day it was for college basketball last night.

The evening tipped off with Wisconsin vs. Arizona in an Elite 8 re-match from last year in which Wisconsin won 64-63 in OT. Once again, Wisconsin took down the Wildcats 85-78. Dekker and Kaminsky were just too much for Coach Miller and the ‘Cats setting up their re-match in nest week’s Final Four with another bunch of Wildcats.

Tick..Tick..Sharpen Your Pencils..Selection Sunday Is Hours Away!!

Final FourOne of America’s favorite days, Selection Sunday, is now just hours away. We will soon be bombarded with bubble teams, last one in, first one out, buzzer beaters, March Madness, bracket busters, Sweet Sixteen, Elite 8, Final Four, and eventually, our National champion. Even the mildest hoops fans get caught up in filling out their brackets – it’s in our DNA!! If the past few days are any indication of what’s to come, be prepared, we are in for a wild ride!

Kentucky is still the “Chalk” – it’s their tournament to lose. 99% of every bracket will have them cutting down the nets. As much as I hate to say it, they are the team to beat. They have it all. Size, speed, inside presence, 3 point bombers, a deep bench, and a coach that has been there before. For all of the other teams out there, the trick tonight is going to be trying to stay out of their region. I feel sorry for the #2 seed in Kentucky’s region. Could that team be Gonzaga? How ironic would that be? Kyle Wiltjer, a former Wildcat left Kentucky because he couldn’t get off the bench. He goes out west to the Zags and may get a chance to play his former team!! Gonzaga is the Boise State of college basketball…Hmmm!

It’s March and it’s MADDENING…Already!!

“It’s Awesome, Baaby”! No truer words were ever spoken by the great Dickie V when it comes to the month of March MadnessMarch.

Conference championships on the line, conference tournaments to be played, and the dream of going to the “Big Dance” is one deflected ball away. This is what we basketball junkies live for…the one and done mentality. Win and move on. Lose and go home. Teams, players, and coaches you may not of ever heard about can be immortalized with one miracle shot that cuts the heart out of the heavy favorite. Upsets, teams playing NOT to lose, and Bracket Busters are all what makes March Madness the greatest month in all of sports! ( So what if it now bleeds into April )

Busted…Brackets and Dreams

The brackets aren’t even out yet ( next Sunday night at 6:00 PM on CBS ) and the insanity has already started. Dartmouth’s miracle win last night, Wichita State being shocked yesterday, Kentucky gunning for a perfect season, and the stunning announcement in Syracuse on Friday are events leading us up to the main event – March Madness.

Today’s Sports News and Notes..The hip, The hop, The happening

Just when you thought the world of sports was in a “dark period” ( not much happening ), all hell broke loose this week. No NFL, No NCAA Final 4, No College football…No problem! Stupidity never takes a timeout!

Donald Sterling NewsWhere do I start…Let’s start with NENE last night as the Baltimore Bullets, I mean the Washington Wizards, basically had a chance to put away the Bulls. But no….NENE ( I thought names like this were reserved to Futbol ) did his best MMA impression and put a dreadlock, I mean a headlock, on the Bulls Jimmy Butler. Newsflash…Instead of being up 3-0, the Wizards are up 2-1 and Uncle Mo just jumped on the backs of the Bulls. Stay tuned….

Hey LeBron, you got knocked on your ASS last night. Stop whining. What if this was 15 years ago and you were facing the Bad Boys? Lambier would have knocked you down and Mahorn would have stepped on your neck! Think Magic would have planted a kiss on your cheek? Would Larry, Kevin, and the Chief let you walk down the lane and posterize them? Doubt it! This is the playoffs, this is big boy basketball. Get some GONADS!

Gotta love basketball. Michigan’s Mitch McGary misses the year with a back injury. He decides to burn a few doobies during March Madness and fails a drug test. No problem, he can walk away from the college game and the NBA will draft him in the first round and he will make millions. Of course he learned his lesson. He will never burn one again…wink, wink, nod, nod!

Maybe the height of stupidity happened in Fenway Park on Wednesday when Yankee pitcher Michael Pineda was tossed for having pine tar on his neck. Are you freaking kidding me?? Pine tar on his neck..on National TV…Yankees vs. Red Sox…A history of doctoring the ball already??? It may be one of baseball’s “unwritten rules” that it is OK to load up a ball but a gob of the goo on your neck is about as dumb as it gets!

Albert Pujols just hit HR # 500. Should be a great milestone, a monumental achievement. But in the steroid era, who really believes it was done without the juice. A sad time for MLB.

Hey some good news for the Bluebloods…Cauley-Stein, Lee, Johnson, Poythress, Aaron and Andrew Harrison will return to Kentucky for their second season. With that core group and another top recruiting class coming in, the Wildcats may be tought o beat in ’14-’15. Had Duke’s Parker and Hood stayed, we could have been looking at potentially one of the greatest NCAA Championship games in the history of college basketball. Oh, well, money is more important!

Love golf, but we need Tiger back. Not many personalities out there with Phil floundering and “T” sitting home playing video games. Jack’s records may be safe after all! Did Jordan Spieth’s lack of maturity or immaturity cost him the Green Jacket?

And how about the biggest idiot of all – Clippers owner Donald Sterling. I am not even going to address his outlandish, idiotic, racist, 1920’s mentality comments. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s legacy in year one may hinge on his handling of this situation.
