Nike is not signing a new endorsement deal with former spokesman Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles, spokesman KeJuan Wilkins said on Thursday.
Nike dumped Vick as an endorser and pulled his products from retail stores in 2007 after the ex-Atlanta Falcons quarterback was charged with bankrolling and running a dogfighting ring.
One of Vick’s agents, Mike Principe, announced during the SBJ/SBD Relay Worldwide Sports Sponsorship Symposium here Wednesday that the newly-signed Eagles QB had signed a new deal with the Swoosh. But Nike’s Wilkins said that wasn’t so. Read full story here

Nike Suspend Michael Vick Contract and Reebok Stop Selling Vick Shirts
Its all going horribly wrong for Atlanta Falcons Quarter Back Michael Vick.
As a result of the NFL star being charged with dog fighting, Nike and Reebok have suspending their business operations surrounding Vick.
Nike have reportedly suspended Michael Vick’s contract, whilst Reebok have stopped selling his number 7 NFL Jersey.
Nike have also stopped selling Vick shoes and sneakers as well as other products after protests from animal rights groups.

ESPN Reported:
Michael Vick is back with Nike two years after the company severed ties over the quarterback’s involvement in a dogfighting ring.
“Mike has a long-standing, great relationship with Nike, and he looks forward to continuing that relationship,” his agent, Joel Segal, said Wednesday.
Segal would not reveal terms of the agreement. Nike, however, denied it had signed Vick to a sponsorship contract in a statement released to CNBC.
“Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick,” Nike spokesman Kejuan Wilkins said in the statement to CNBC. “We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike.”. Read more here

Week 3 preview: Root for or against Vick?

Michael Vick will take his first snap in a real NFL game this Sunday since his life and career were derailed by bad decisions, bad associations and bad conduct.
All eyes will be on him and everybody seems to have an outsized rooting interest.
Eagles fanshaving seen their offense decimated by injuries have gone from regarding Vick as a novel luxury to hoping he can actually help move the chains while Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook and DeSean Jackson fight through injuries.
Hardcore animal lovers are probably rooting for Vick to tear an ACL.
Despite Atlanta’s spectacular turnaround behind Matt Ryan, Falcons fans could hardly be blamed for hoping Vick falls on his face. Though Vick’s exit from Atlanta ultimately led to Atlanta drafting Ryan, the exit was nonetheless grim. The lasting image of Vick in Atlanta will be flipping the fans the dirty bird. ASSOCIATED PRESS: Michael Vick can throw passes to his teammates instead of ball boys.
The Philadelphia Eagles elevated Vick to the team’s 53-man roster Tuesday, a move that allows the quarterback to practice with the team.

Wide receiver Hank Baskett was released to make room for Vick, who is eligible to play Sept. 27 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Vick will begin practicing with the team Wednesday, though he cannot play in Sunday’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints. Vick was suspended for the first two regular-season games as the final league penalty for his role in running a dogfighting ring.
Kevin Kolb is expected to take the snaps with the starters Wednesday because Donovan McNabb has a cracked rib. Jeff Garcia was signed to back up Kolb in case McNabb can’t play.
Vick was brought in to give the Eagles another dimension on offense. He ran Philadelphia’s version of the wildcat offense and took some snaps as a traditional QB under center in two preseason games. Read more here

I’ve been asked, and before it’s all over I’ll probably be asked again, what was my involvement in Michael Vick coming to the Eagles. Here’s what I know:
Michael and I have known each other since the time I was asked to host him on his visit to Syracuse University. Anybody that’s ever been through that knows that current college athletes are asked to spend time with possible recruits who are similar or share something in common (play the same position, come from the same part of the country, etc.). During that time, I had a chance to get to know Michael pretty well. And, although he decided to go to Virginia Tech, we kept in touch and remained friends. read full story here
