2003 NBA Draft Class Dominates 2010 All-Star Game

The 2003 NBA Draft was held on June 26, 2003 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from high schools and non-North American leagues.

The draft was broadcast on ESPN at 7:30 pm (EDT). The NBA announced that 42 college and high school players and a record 31 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the 2003 NBA Draft.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had a 22.50 percent probability of obtaining the first selection, won the NBA Draft Lottery on May 22, and Cleveland chairman Gordon Gund said afterward his team would select LeBron James.

The unbelievable talent in the 2003 NBA Draft class was evident tonight in Dallas at the 2010 NBA All-Star Game.  The 2003 Draft started with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony at 1 and 2, and then featured Dwayne Wade at 5.  It also had Chris Bosh and Chris Kaman at 4 and 6 respectively.  Read full story here

Tony Parker Injured While Playing French National Team

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:  Spurs star Tony Parker hurt playing for the French national team

EXPRESS NEWS has reported that Spurs guard Tony Parker suffered two injuries to his right leg in a collision with an opponent while playing for the French national team against Austria on Friday night in Strasbourg, France.

According to French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Parker left the game on a crutch after 12 minutes with a sharp pain in his right thigh after colliding with Austria’s Stjepan Stazic. Though that injury soon subsided, Parker’s right ankle became swollen. By Saturday morning, it was clear the ankle was the greater issue.  Read More HERE

Former NBA Great Wayman Tisdale Dies

Three time All-American  Oklahoma basketball superstar Wayman Tisdale has passed away after a two year battle with cancer. According to sources Tisdale died this morning at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The basketball great played 12 seasons in the NBA. He was 44.

ABOUT WAYMAN TISDALE:

♦Following his basketball career, he became an award-winning jazz musician, with several albums making the top 10 on the Billboard charts.

♦Tisdale learned he had cancerous cyst below his right knee after he fell and broke his leg in a fall at his Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2007

♦Tisdale was chosen for induction into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame last month.

♦He holds Oklahoma’s career scoring record with 2,661 points and career rebounding record with 1,048

♦In 1997, Tisdale became the first Oklahoma player in any sport to have his jersey number retired.

Rodney Rogers NBA Star Paralyzed

Rodney Rogers, Former Wake Forest All-American basketball  was airlifted from Duke University Hospital to a Rehabilitation facility in Atlanta yesterday.  The 6′7 forward who played in the NBA for 12 years was   paralyzed after an ATV  accident over the Thanksgiving weekend.  According to sources Rogers was four-wheeling in a rural area in Raleigh when he fell off the vehicle.  He reportedly suffered a spinal cord injury however, the extent of the injuries are not known.
