Victories driven by a big-play offense. Victories by a wide margin. Victories … victories … and more victories.

Evans was a fullback on the New England Patriots when they finished the 2007 regular season 16-0. There is a lot about that experience that reminds him of what is unfolding with his current team, the 5-0 New Orleans Saints.

“I see a bunch of guys excited about playing together,” Evans said. “These guys are getting a taste of (non-stop) winning. Dave (Thomas, a backup tight end and former Patriot) and I had it when we were on that ‘07 team, and you start racking them up.”

The Saints haven’t racked up many as large as the one they did on Sunday, with a 48-27 pounding of the previously unbeaten New York Giants.  Read full story here

Ray Lewis Hit on Darren Sproles, Ravens vs Chargers Video

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis met Darren Sproles head-on on fourth-and-2 in the closing seconds Sunday, using brute strength to overpower speed and shiftiness and give the Ravens a 31-26 win over the Chargers in San Diego.

A game that seemingly was going to be decided by Philip Rivers instead was sealed by Lewis.

The Chargers needed a touchdown to win and had the ball on Baltimore’s 15 with 33 seconds left. But Lewis came in unblocked and slammed Sproles to the ground for a 5-yard loss, and the Ravens (2-0) ran out the clock.

The Chargers ran the play earlier but Lewis missed the tackle. Read full story here

KICKOFF: 8:30 p.m. (EDT)

CAPACITY: 75,192

Making a nationally-televised appearance on their first 2009 regular-season road game, the Indianapolis Colts, 1-0, meet the Miami Dolphins, 0-1, on Monday, September 21.  Kickoff in Land Shark Stadium for the contest, telecast nationally by ESPN, is 8:30 p.m. (EDT)

The Colts opened their 57th National Football League season, their 26th in Indianapolis and their first under Head Coach Jim Caldwell last Sunday with a 14-12 home victory over Jacksonville.  Miami dropped a 19-7 decision last Sunday at Atlanta.  The contest pits two of the NFL’s most successful teams during recent regular-season play.  The Colts reach Monday night’s battle with a 10-game regular-season game winning streak.  The victory gave the Colts their sixth 10+-game regular-season winning streak in franchise history (13, 2005; 11, 1964; 11, 1975-76; 11, 1999; 10, 2005-06, 10, 2008-09), the fourth since 1999.  Miami has produced nine wins in its last eleven outings.  Additionally, the Colts will be making their first appearance in this venue since taking a 29-17 victory over Chicago in Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007.
