Ellen DeGeneres, 51, is  American Idol’s new judge. Finally American Idol creators have a replacement of Paula Abdul on America’s best known reality show. So far there were speculation as to who is going to be the replacement for affable Paula Abdul who left the show over payment issue.

But now everything seems to have fallen for the beautiful and gorgeous Ellen DeGeneres.

The famous comedian Ellen DeGeneres is about to tickle the funny bone of millions of music lovers — the comedienne will replace “Forever Your Girl” star Paula Abdul as a judge when the 9th season of American Idol kicks off in January 2010.

She says that she’s thrilled to take over the seat left vacant after Abdul quit the series in the middle of a salary dispute with producers last month.

Ellen Lee DeGeneres is a twelve-time Emmy Award-winning American stand-up comedienne, television hostess and actress. She hosts the award winning syndicated talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

She has hosted both the Academy Awards and the Primetime Emmys. As a film actress, she starred in Mr. Wrong, appeared in EDtv and The Love Letter, and provided the voice of Dory in Pixar’s animated film Finding Nemo.  Read full story here

Now that the reality is sinking in that Paula Abdul might really, really not be sitting pretty at the American Idol judges table next season, we’re starting to mourn her loss a bit.

American Idol Judge Paula Abdul, 46, has faced criticism and allegations about her somewhat strange behavior in the past.  She has been accused of appearing on national television intoxicated.  The most recent incident in which her slurred speech was a clear indication that Abdul was under the influence of something.

Now the truth is known: she’s no longer dependent on heavy-duty pain meds!

In an article written in Star Magazine, Paula revealed that she checked herself into La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., in November 2008. Abdul has suffered a lifetime of injuries through out her dancing career. and in 1993, the idol judge was partially paralyzed in a plane crash. Abdul has undergone 15 spinal surgeries, and has been diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy which is a chronic pain condition.

As a result of her injuries Abdul admitted that she had become dependent of very strong narcotic pain medications.

Paula spoken openly about her addiction  and battle to overcome her dependency an interview with Ladies’ Home Journal and described her detox experience saying that:   “Withdrawal — it’s the worst thing, I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating.” She adds, “I could have killed myself.”  Read more about Paula’s battle to overcome dependency here
