As the rest of the country gathers to watch the New England Patriots face the Los Angeles Rams in the biggest football game of the year, Saints fans will be mourning a Super Bowl that might have been.

New Orleans fans are still holding a grudge after the Saints vs Rams famed no-call during the Jan. 20  NFC Championship Game.

You can take the Saints out of the Super bowl… but you can’t take a chance to party out of the fans.

Dallas Cowboys Franchise Release Michael Sam

Michael Sam Released CowboysMichael Sam the first gay man to be drafted in the NFL has been released from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.

Sam,  was the 249th overall pick  selected by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft .

After failing to make the Rams 53 man roster…he was released and picked up by the Dallas Cowboys franchise.  The news of his release was announced today.

Sam issue a statement in which he said… “I want to think the Jones family and the entire Cowboys organization for their opportunity, as well as my friends, family, teammates, and fans for their support. While this is disappointing, I will take the lessons I learned here in Dallas and continue to fight for an opportunity to prove that I can play every Sunday.

Sam attended the University of Missouri, where he played college football for the Missouri Tigers football team for four years.

Michael Sam made history Saturday afternoon, as the St. Louis Rams made him the 249th overall choice in the 2014 NFL draft.Michael Sam Makes History as the first gay athlete to be drafted in the NFL!

It was a long wait for  All-American defensive end, Michael Sam, who played for the University of Missouri but in the end he would make history  by becoming the first openly gay player to be drafted by a National Football League team.

Sam was picked by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh and final round.

He was the 249th of 256 players selected.

The 24-year-old got the news by telephone from  St Louis Rams’ head coach Jeff Fisher, who told Sam: “You are a Ram. The wait is finally over.”

Jeffrey Michael Fisher is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the St. Louis Rams and was previously the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN was there when Michael Sam got his much awaited phone call, the shining moment was caught on film.  Sam broke down in tears in the arms of his boyfriend. “Thank you,” he could be heard saying to Fisher.

Michael Sam took to Twitter to post a picture of himself, smiling. “Thank you to the St. Louis Rams and the whole city of St. Louis,” he said in the post. “I’m using every (ounce) of this to achieve greatness!!”

Tim Tebow St. Louis Rams Rumors

The St. Louis Rams are in need of a starting quarterback and according to NFL media columnist Michael Silver…Tim Tebow’s name has surfaced in the Tim Tebow NFL Newsdiscussion.

UPDATE:  Rams’ quarterback search won’t include Vince Young or Tim Tebow.

Rumors have surfaced throughout numerous sports news networks  that Tim Tebow might be acquired by the St. Louis Rams to  replace quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford tore his ACL during  Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The 2008  Heisman Trophy  winners injury occurred on a scramble in the fourth quarter.

A representative for the Rams NFL franchise confirmed today the Bradford’s injury is season ending.   Bradford had thrown for 1,687 yards with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions this season.

Despite the reports made by Silver, St. Louis Post-Dispatch sportswriter Jim Thomas took to Twitter today to set the record straight, based on what he knew from working the Rams beat.

“Contrary to speculation, Tim Tebow is not coming to St. Louis.”

Rams Quarter Sam Bradford In Week 1, Bradford led the Rams to their first regular season opening victory since 2006 by going 27/38 for 299 yards while throwing 2 touchdowns and an interception in the 27-24 win over the Cardinals.

In Week 2, Bradford had a field day against the Falcons despite losing 31-24, he went 32/55 for 352 yards for 3 touchdowns and an interception.

In Week 3, Bradford struggled to have protection despite throwing 29/48 for 240 yards for a touchdown, the QB was sacked 6 times against the Cowboys in the 31-7 loss.

In Week 4, Bradford’s struggles continued as he went 19/14 for 202 yards for a touchdown, an interception, lost a fumble, and was sacked 5 times in the 35-11 loss on Thursday Night Football to the 49ers.

In Week 5, Bradford went 19/34 for 222 yards for 3 touchdowns despite being sacked twice in their 34-20 win over the Jaguars.

In Week 6, Bradford went near perfect in pass attempts going 12/16 for 117 yards and 3 touchdown passes in their 38-13 win over the Texans.

In week 7, Bradford had a really good passing game as he threw for 21/30 for 255 yards, for a touchdown but also threw an interception and was sacked twice as the Rams lost 30-15 against the Panthers.

Bradford also tore his ACL in the 4th quarter ending his season leaving Kellen Clemens to take over for the remainder of the game.

Regardless, he’d finish the season strong with 159/262 completed passes for 1,687 yards, 14 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 15 sacks, and a lost fumble on the season.

Kellen Vincent Clemens is an American football quarterback for the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft.   He played college ball  at Oregon.
