A US couple who crashed President Barack Obama’s first state dinner, leaving the White House red-faced, refused on Wednesday to answer a Congressional committee’s questions about the incident.
“On the advice of my counsel, I respectfully assert my right to remain silent and decline to answer your question,” Tareq Salahi told the
committee, invoking his constitutional rights against self-incrimination.
Still, the couple, who face possible criminal charges as to whether they lied to public officials or trespassed on federal property, remained calm. (At times, Mrs. Salahi — dressed in a white, very-slit, pencil skirt and a fur-trimmed shawl to match — did not seem bothered at all by the sea of cameras clicking away before the witness stand.)
His wife Michaele did the same in the hearing before the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee.
The couple made no statement and refused to take questions from reporters.
The Salahis made headlines after they attended the early portion of the November 24 dinner honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh despite apparently lacking either an invitation or proper Secret Service clearance. Read full story here
“Obviously something went wrong and it originated with the White House not with the Salahis, not with the Secret Service,” said Peter King, the committee’s highest-ranking Republican, vowing that the Congressional investigation is not over. “I don’t know what the White House is trying to hide. I don’t know why they won’t allow Desiree Rogers to come up here.” Read more here

This man is now purchasing land to build a new winery?!?!? He drove a family business into the ground (delcaration of Bankruptcy). He has MULTIPLE Warrant in Debt and Unlawful Detainers against him in Fauquier County and he is being evicted from his home! And now he is to open another business? Not to mention all of the claims against this man from the VA Department of Labor.
Please do not visit this winery, they dont even make their own wines! While at Oasis, Rappahanock vineyards “bottled” the wine and oasis slapped a label on it.
Tareq was too concerned with purchasing a new aston martin than to worry about the quality of his wine. He would even make the employees go out and polish the car every day. Funny how he would not pay the employees overtime and he showed up with a new 165k automobile. Read full story here
