Pete Carroll resigned Sunday at USC to become the Seahawks’ head coach, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Lane Kiffin called USC his “dream job,” Wednesday during a news conference introducing him as the Trojans’ new football coach.

Just 14 months on job as Tennessee’s coach, the former USC assistant was contacted by the athletic department shortly after Pete Carroll resigned to take the Seattle Seahawks coaching position. It didn’t take long for him to accept the Trojans’ offer.

“Ten years ago when I got here and I knew this would be my dream job,” Kiffin said. “I’m here today very fortunate.”

“When I first got here, as I continued to develop relationships here and see the power of SC, it became obvious to me that this was the best job in America.”

The 34-year-old Kiffin, who endured a stormy tenure as the Oakland Raiders coach before being fired by owner Al Davis, turned Tennessee from 5-7 to 7-5 in his one year with the Vols.

His short stay in Knoxville wasn’t without controversy, whether it was statements aimed at opposing SEC coaches or secondary NCAA violations.

Kiffin said his approach here won’t be the same.

“It is different here,” he said. “We don’t need to go out and create energy about our program (as he did at Tennessee). We don’t need to go out and grab attention because we have it.  Read full story here
